Fourth Graders Join Governor Shumlin for Tree-Tapping at Slopeside

Some Fourth Graders celebrated the start of sugaring season by joining Governor Shumlin for his annual tree-tapping at Cochran's Ski Area on Tuesday afternoon. Students were in the company of Chuck Ross, the Secretary of Agriculture, several local news crews, and many others representing Vermont's agriculture and maple industry. The event culminated in the sugar house with a delicious French toast lunch, prepared by RES's very own Karyl Kent, and topped with some tasty Slopeside Syrup. The folks at Slopeside Syrup have been longtime supporters of the RES Farm to School program and we are grateful for the invitation to be a part of such a memorable event.
