On September 26th, the second graders had a blast getting their hands dirty while harvesting sweet potatoes with Christa from Jericho Settlers' Farm. Christa estimated that they harvested between 300 and 400 pounds! Students were excited to return to the farm where they had planted onions last spring, as first graders; although their onions were harvested back in August, we are hoping that students will have the chance to cook with onions from Jericho Settlers' Farm in the future. Additionally, be on the lookout for sweet potatoes on the lunch menu. After the potatoes have cured, Christa said she'd send some down to the school. Lucky us!
